Funding Teacher Training

There are lots of funding options available to support you throughout your teacher training. These include tax-free scholarships and bursaries. This varies depending on which age-range and subject you want to teach, and what class degree you achieve.

You may be eligible for a tuition fee loan to cover the cost of tuition fees. This is available through Student Finance England and, if eligible, you will also be able to apply for a loan for living costs.

There are currently bursaries available for trainees who are training to teach: Early Years and Primary aged children and the following subjects at secondary level:
Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computing, Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages, Ancient Languages, Design and Technology (D&T), Geography, English, Music, History and RE. The bursary amounts are dependant on the subject area and the class of your degree.

If you are interested in teaching Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Computing, you may also be eligible to apply for a scholarship.
